Called to be Faithful Stewards

Each one of us are stewards to whom God has bestowed talents or gifts. They are given to us by God to be used for God as directed by God and we will be accountable to Him for them..  1 Corinthians 4:2 says “it is required in stewards that one be found faithful”. 

 We are called to “redeem the time as the days are evil”. (Ephesians 5:16).  To redeem is to buy back, and we were redeemed (bought back) by the blood of Jesus. To redeem the time, we must recover any time that we have used for our own selfish use and not for God.  Our time is His and we are not to be wasting in frivolous pursuits but use it for kingdom work. We are required as servants of God to use our time as led by the Holy Spirit, be it in our home, our workplace or leisure activities.  Every moment must count for God.   

God speaks to us through the Scriptures.  The Holy Spirit enlightens our minds as we read and makes God and His will known to us.  “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16,17. The Word is a treasure store of promises, but also contains warnings which we must heed.   It is a light unto our path (Ps 119105), milk and meat to nourish our spiritual bodies. How can we know the will of God and what pleases Him or grieves and quenches His Holy Spirit if we do not seek Him within His Word. We neglect studying it at our peril.

Together with the Scriptures, prayer is the most powerful weapon we have against the wiles of the evil one.  While many treat prayer like a begging bowl or a lifeline to grasp when all else fails, prayer is much more than that. Through prayer we speak to God and through His Word He speak to us.  We are called to pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, for all saints (Ephesians 5:18). Praying in accordance with God’s will and with the help of the Holy Spirit we can bring down the strongholds of Satan. . . (2 Corinthians 4,5) and win battles being fought in the heavenly places). We can pray lost souls into heaven, we can bring healing into broken lives and bodies, and reconciliation where there arfe broken relationships. Prayer is the very essence of our spiritual life. Prayer was an integral part of Jesus’ life and we must follow His example.

Challenge

What part do these gifts play in helping us grow in the love and knowledge of God. How have we allowed them to mold us into the image of Christ and inspired us to reach others for Him?

Prayer

Almighty God thank you for the gifts you have given us.  May we be faithful stewards of all you have entrusted to us.  Help us to spend more time in your Word and in prayer so as to be well equipped for your service.
